High-ranking Church officials responsible for maintaining Church law, overseeing Tech Acolytes, and conducting candidate interviews. The Head Deacon of Order is one of the highest positions next to the High Cardinal.
Decontamination Zone
A hermetically sealed area, often nitrogen-filled, designed to kill all bacteria and contaminants on personnel or cargo entering or leaving the city.
Demon Node
A wireless technological interface installed at the base of a demon's skull, allowing the Church to issue direct contracts that override human autonomy.
Demons
Humans who have surrendered their free will to the Church in exchange for advanced mechanical augmentations. They are characterized by black tattoos (ink) that mark their internal tech inserts and are used primarily as elite enforcers or executioners.
Factories
Automated industrial facilities located outside Neom that manufacture essential goods like plastic and techsamine, while also serving as a grim destination for prisoners sentenced to exile.
Fertility Exam
Mandatory, invasive medical procedures conducted at Church birthing centres to determine if a woman is fit for her primary duty of reproduction.
First-Generation Angels
Rudimentary programs or drones often installed directly into walls or appliances. They have limited, reactionary AI and are primarily used to patrol the city mainframe to censor data and alter definitions that contradict Church dogma.
Fourth-Generation Angels
The most sophisticated standard models, designed to integrate seamlessly into the population. They possess human-like mannerisms, genders, and can simulate emotions and pain. While they have synthetic organs and metal skeletons, they bleed milky-white fuel rather than blood.
Genetic Culling
A Church policy of restricting reproduction or matching citizens to prevent the passing on of damaged or mutated genes, as so decided by the Cardinal Council.
Genetic Lottery
A Church-controlled system where parents can use genetic manipulation to dictate the appearance and traits of their children.
Guardian of the Womb
The legal designation for a woman's Blood Guardian (usually her father or husband), who controls her reproductive status and marriage contracts.
Handshake
A term used by AIs to describe a direct digital connection and communication between two systems or cores.
Haven (Camp Haven)
An independent settlement established at the original TeC-3 techsamine factory—located several hours' drive from Neom. Serves as a sanctuary for city refugees, survivors of the Nexis attack, and individuals with genetic mutations.
High Sceptre
A high-security administrative and technical hub containing the city's primary servers and restricted research archives.
Household
In Neom, a house is considered a piece of property, and a woman's primary social function is to serve and support the male head of the household.
Ichor
The viscous, black, oil-like substance produced by the Infection. It is highly flammable, burning with a distinct green flame that is difficult to extinguish. Hardens into a glass-like fractal after long exposure to air.
Imps
Marginalized residents of Neom's lower levels who resort to drastic, disfiguring, and often toxic plastic augmentations as a means of self-defence.
The Infection
A mysterious, progressive disease that attacks the nervous system and eventually consumes the host's cells.

A specific compound used in angel eyes made of liquid hydrogen that must be kept at near-absolute zero temperatures within ceramic spheres.
LAP System (Layered Adaptive Protocol)
A specialized system found in older Angel models that allows for new protocols to be added on top of old ones without needing to erase the original coding.
Levels
The vertical tiers of Neom, which consists of 20 levels. The higher levels (15–20) are reserved for the elite and the clergy, featuring open spaces, better food, and advanced technology, while lower levels (ground to 5) are characterized by cramped slums and limited church monitoring.
